Women from five churches in Richmond meet and organize the Woman’s Missionary Society of Richmond as the first cooperative organization of Baptist women from more than one church, south of the Potomac.

Woman’s Missionary Union of Virginia (WMUV) is born as a result of helping to raise money for the FMB to supply Lottie Moon and her sister Edmonia Moon with a home in China.
